Yes, you read the title right. We earn smiles. Usually, when a person or a team of like-minded people start an NGO, they may face criticism and lack of support because people think that the social service sector is a non-profit sector and one cannot earn anything from it.
Who says we don’t earn anything? We earn smiles, innocent smiles and happiness. One can never know what all good can a simple smile can do to our hearts. We get emotional support from the young children we teach, their smiles, their gratefulness and their happiness. All this pushes us to do more. Their smiles work wonders on our hearts. We feel glad.
For all those who think that running a non-profit organization is like making efforts and getting nothing in return, we request them to accompany us in our campaigns and see what we do and what impact it makes on the young minds we teach. We know that funds are the basic requirement, but we cannot do anything if we don’t have the motivation to do it. Motivation is something which pushes you from the bed when you get up in the morning. We don’t need to search for any motivation when we work; we get motivation while we work. The innocent and beautiful smile on the faces of children is an ever-lasting motivation for us. Mahatma Gandhi once said, “The best way to find you is to lose yourself in the service of others.”
Give to the world, the best you have and the best will come back to you. When you studied at school, did you ever think that your knowledge should contribute to the growth of someone who needs it, rather than contributing to the growth of MNCs and large business houses?
We thought this and we implemented it. We use what we were taught in school to help others to grow and lift up. Our education is contributing to the growth of the nation, not in GDP, but in literacy and skill.
